Here is a list of items I wish to make this summer!
Calendula hand oil
Put 4 ounces of dried calendula flowers in a slow cooker and pour 8 ounces of almond oil over it, covering all of the dried flowers. Cook on low overnight and strain in the morning. Keep in a cool, dark place.
Calendula lip balm
Combine an ounce of coconut oil and and ounce of calendula petals in a double boiler and cook on low for one hour.
Strain the mixture, return to the double boiler and add a quarter of an ounce of beeswax.
When everything has melted together add a few drops of essential oil (I like lavender, grapefruit or peppermint)
Pour into small jars or containers to set. If not the right consistency, either add more beeswax or more coconut oil.
Herbal mouthwash
Up to 10 drops of tinctures made from rosemary, thyme, and peppermint with half a cup of boild water. Cool and rinse out mouth to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. Use over a period of a few days and when gums look better, discontinue use.
Bug Spray
Mix 10 drops each of lemon and eucalyptus essential oils to 4 ounces of water and spray away.
Papaya or Strawberry Mask
Chemical peels are so last season. If you want to use a peel for dead skin and fine lines, look no further than your refrigerator. Either mix 2 tablespoons of papaya or strawberry with a tablespoon of dried oatmeal. Set for 10 minutes on skins and wipe away. Voila beautiful, younger looking skin without the chemicals and cancer causing compounds.
