Tuesday was my day off from the farm, so A and I took a trip to Richmond in search of a hiking spot off of the Long Trail and stumbled upon a vegetarian bakery and restaurant in downtown Richmond.
The day was filled with sunshine after a cool morning and flowers caught my eye, along with a single sign that simply read "Bakery."

Beautiful, big poppies welcomed us at the entrance.
The artsy door is just a small glimpse of the aesthetic offerings. The inside was filled with local art and handmade signs (even the restroom sign was an embroidered cloth) . There was a laissez-faire feel to the place: you filled your own water and ordered at the counter, but this only added to the charm.
A small herb and vegetable garden made use of the bakery's front yard.
Overall, I give this spot an excellent rating and know that it is one of the places I'll wish to return to again and again.

Oh yes, and then there's the food. A vegetarian's dream come true. Hot soups, salads, veggie burgers, falafel, homemade tortillas. I opted for the basic veggie burger, which didn't disappoint and left me very full.
Also on the menu are local beers on tap and a variety of other items that come from various farms around Vermont, all noted on a blackboard above the counter.
Being too full to indulge in dessert, I brought a box of treats back to the farm: lemon poppy seed cookies, rich chocolate walnut cupcakes and raspberry scones. All beautiful and DELICIOUS!
The restaurant is located right next to a river and park, so after eating it was nice to walk around and sit near the water.
If you're ever in Vermont, definitely stop over to Richmond for a hike and some wonderful food.
Peace, love and happy eats!
